Laser Treatment

GEMINI LASER, Faster and more effective treatment can now be achieved with this new laser. Approved by the FDA for Permanent Hair Reduction, this laser system provides state-of-the-art hair removal with minimal discomfort or side-effects. The Gemini Laser was one the first lasers approved by the FDA for use in tanned patients, patients with darker complexions and African-Americans. It is also FDA approved to treat Pseudofolliculitis Barbae (PFB), a very uncomfortable facial rash that occurs in some men (and women) due to ingrown hairs.

When undergoing Laser Hair Removal, the patient needs only one laser that works well (such as the Gemini Laser). Facilities that claim to have many lasers, may actually have many lasers that do not work well. More lasers does not necessarily mean better treatment results!

Laser hair removal can be done on any area of the body, including the face, underarms, shoulders, neck, arms, back, chest abdomen, bikini lines and legs. Men and women of all skin types and shades can benefit from treatment with the Gemini Laser.

The newest technology available for hair removal

BEWARE OF GUARANTEES AND CHEAP PRICES! No facility can guarantee hair removal - they can only guarantee more treatments if the initial treatments don't work. That doesn't make the treatments any more effective. Chose a facility from the start that offers safe and effective laser hair removal, using state-of-the-art equipment. Also, check to see who will be performing the treatments. Cheaper prices usually means a technician is performing the treatment. Note that in Pennsylvania, anyone can be hired as a "technician" to perform laser hair removal, often with minimal training. Usually, reduced power is used by the technician to avoid possible side effects. DR. LAUFER PERFORMS ALL PROCEDURES HIMSELF. Consequently, the highest and most effective powers can be used for treatment.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a popular cosmetic procedure that can help rejuvenate the skin and reduce the effects of the sun, aging, and some facial skin disorders. Treatments are safe, effective, and convenient. Also, the cost of cosmetic laser skin resurfacing is minimal compared to many other treatment options. Learn more about how laser skin rejuvenation, or laser peel as it is often called, removes damaged outer layers of skin and stimulates the production of collagen and new skin cells in the underlying layers, bringing about smoother, younger, healthier-looking skin.

Cosmetic laser skin resurfacing is a method for diminishing the appearance of imperfections on the skinís surface. During the laser skin resurfacing procedure a laser is used to dissolve the molecular bonds of the damaged skin cells layer by layer until a smoother, more uniform skin appearance is achieved. The procedure may also be referred to as laser skin rejuvenation because of its anti-aging benefits, or laser peel because the damaged layers of skin are peeled away.

Laser vein removal

Vein removalSPIDER VEIN REMOVAL Spider veins, or telangiectasia, can occur on the face, the legs or any other part of the body. They are not really veins at all; they are enlarged capillaries in the skin.

Spider veins on the face are treated mainly by laser. This is discussed below. On the legs, however, sclerotherapy or laser can be used to eliminate spider veins.

Sclerotherapy is considered the "gold standard" of leg vein treatment, since it has been around the longest, provides excellent and consistent results in almost all patients, and is very safe.

During sclerotherapy, a sclerosing solution is injected into the spider veins and compression is applied. This causes the spider veins to "glue" shut, shrink up and disappear. There is minimal discomfort, and even people who "hate needles" find the procedure easy to handle. The solution used is very safe, and the patient can return to normal activities immediately (high-impact exercises should be avoided for one week).

Dr. Laufer also uses the new GEMINI LASER to treat spider veins. This is one of the newest and most effective lasers available to treat spider veins. Treatment on the face is very simple and nearly painless. Treatment of leg veins causes minimal discomfort.

Note that there are different "light" technologies used to treat veins and other skin problems. Dr. Laufer uses only true laser technology, not pulsed light. There is a significant difference in these instruments.

Hair Removal: Electrolysis & Thermolysis

ElectrolysisElectrolysis & Thermolysis
In these methods, a fine probe is inserted in the hair follicle and the follicle is destroyed permanently. These methods, if carried out correctly, promise permanent hair removal but that does not happen everytime. The results depend upon the skill of the technician. These methods are also very time consuming and painful.

Electrolysis: In this method, the fine needle is inserted in the hair follicle and direct current is passed. This current makes a chemical called lye or sodium hydroxide. The hair follicle gets destroyed by the lye and is pulled out.

Thermolysis: In this method too, a fine needle is passed in the follicle. But instead of direct current, alternating current is passed in the needle. This current creates enough heat to destroy the follicle.

Blend Method: In blend method, the follicle is destroyed both by heating and by the lye at the same time.

You should look for a very highly trained technician and discuss about all the three methods. Don't try these methods for large areas, but smaller areas. This method is expensive, time consuming and at times painful. In the hands of a good technician, you will get good results and get rid of hair forever from a large area. The final results will thus depend upon the skill of the technician.
